Academic Structure

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Years 6,7,8 follows the British Curriculum.

They are studying the following subjects:

YEAR 6-7: English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, French, Turkish, Physical Education, Art,  Geography, History, PSHE, Religious Education

Year 8: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,  ICT, French, Turkish, Physical Education, Art,  Geography, History, PSHE, Religious Education

We cater both for native English and EFL  students and classes are divided according to students ability.  However, native speakers are taught together and follow the English National Curriculum syllabus.

Turkish is taught by native speakers and the students are grouped according to ability.  We follow a Turkish as a Foreign Language programme for foreign students allowing for Turkish Language skills to develop at the child’s own pace and giving good grounding in both oral and grammar skills.

HIGH SCHOOL

Year 9,10,11,12

We have two sections for High School. We have IGCSE & A Level Classes and ÖSS Classes.

I ) IGCSE CLASSES

IGCSE is a balanced international curriculum which is designed to encourage high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning.

The curriculum consists of a two-year course of study leading to an examination which is typically taken at the age of 16.  Successful students receive an internationally recognized qualification, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, which is equivalent in standard to the British GCSE examinations.

The curriculum is suitable for students of all nationalities and all levels of ability.  Edexcel and Cambridge IGCSE is used by the school in over 100 countries throughout the world and has been recognized as a qualification for matriculation purposes by universities in the United Kingdom and in many other countries.

Edexcel and Cambridge IGCSE covers a broad range of subjects with syllabuses which are regularly reviewed to keep pace with developments in educational practice and to meet the needs of schools throughout the world.

Compulsory Lessons are:

English, Maths, Turkish, P.E

Optional Lessons are:

Chemistry, Biology, Physics, History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, ICT, Art, Design&Technology

Year 11 – 12 : With 5 IGCSE passes at grades C and above, students may continue to A Level Programme.

If students will not continue with A Level programme , they may continue their education with Arts or Science Classes.

II - ÖSS CLASSES (Year 9 – 10 – 11 - 12 )

Lessons are in Turkish. They follow the Ministry of Education curriculum.
